Upholstery is the category where photos matter most. A few clear pictures tell us almost everything we need to know.
Photos that help us most
- The full piece from the front, straight on
- Seat cushions from above, showing how they're holding their shape
- Arms and corners, where wear usually shows first
- The tag or label under the seat deck if there is one
- Any stain, pet damage, tear, or sun fading, up close
What affects a sofa or sectional evaluation
Frame quality, fabric or leather condition, cushion support, the maker, the configuration of a sectional, and whether the style is currently in demand. Size and access also matter: a large sectional coming down a narrow stairwell is a different pickup than a loveseat in a ground-floor room.
Pieces that usually aren't a fit
Heavily stained or worn upholstery, strong smoke or pet odors, broken frames, and sleeper sofas with damaged mechanisms are typically not resellable. If you're unsure, send photos anyway — it costs you nothing to find out.
